“Forestry of the Future”
And stand in awe the unsuspecting minds
When trees will rise as if from nowhere
And tower to the sky like thunder in the night
And in the dusky twilight fearsome forests
Once more will whisper to the stars and
Earth’s breath will find its hunger sated
With green-haired heads and roots that grow into its heart.
Will man then quietly acknowledge that he’s not master
To humbly stand before the ancients
And bow his head before the wisdom of a tree.
Will he then feel the sacred epiphany of being
One with nature’s everlasting play
Life moving in its perfect circles to in the end
Bring to rest the endless restlessness of man.
Will he awake the ancient secrets which
He’d forgotten like a chafing dream
And in his soul return to deeper meanings
Than his calculating mind could ever hope to see,
Children will sing with unperturbed pleasure
And lovers seek to seal their lasting bond
Under the enveloping cover of the mystic ones
While elves and sprites in innocence
Refreshingly splash all the wearied minds.
Though we still feel the threads that bind us to it
Scarce do we perceive the full import
The nurt’ring womb from which we’re born;
And though we may deny our base origin
How can we claim that we can live and thrive without
